The 798 'Art Factory' district is a reincarnation of a large multi-factory site that dates back to the 1950s. The old industrial units are now emerging as galleries, studios, bookshops, installations, workshops and cafes. 798 lies in DaShanZi in north east Beijing (beyond the 4th ringroad). You can take a bus or taxi from DongZhiMen subway station.
