Beautiful Sleeping Buddha – sculpture art from waste

Last year, artist Hu JunJun was invited to make a six ton Reclining Buddha statue with twigs, which received much attention on exhibition in XiaMen. In her works, the Buddha often appears among colorful Chinese landscapes in a light and graceful style, rather than in the stereotypical manner of religious art works. Master architect Tadao Ando designed a museum for their collection of Buddha statues of the Northern Dynasties over the past decade. At the end of 2020, YIT visited Hu JunJun in her studio and collected the backstage story of her creation and collection of Buddha statues ...

Going home …
A short story for the Chinese New Year. The Spring Festival is about a new year, a new beginning. A time of renewal, and hope and a fresh start, a time of good-will. For example, fireworks, apart from being a joy to all, are to scare away bad spirits. One can see this symbolize the breaking of old habits of thought - a spring clean of the mind. A new year is a new chance for a better life - if you will take it. Keep your eyes open, heart abundant, and strive for a better world. Help others on their journey whenever you can and always share a smile. It may help another, but it will certainly be good for you. Someday, even the mountains will be gone. But right now we are alive, and we can make a difference. When faced with bad-will, take it on the chin and return only affection. It might leave a seed for the future; at least, it will not get you down. As the film says, yes, it is love that brings us closer to happiness ... Above all, the Spring Festival is a time for family. And ultimately, we are all sisters and brothers breathing the same air ...

Relationships not going well – BB’s take – quit early
No video in this post. At BB, we think this is something crucial to well-being and we'll do our best to convey our experience ... The most important point is - don't imagine that you can 'fix' things - at the start, one needs 3 or 4 meetings to relax and know someone - but beyond that, if things are not going well, get out early; one cannot 'fix' incompatibility, and certainly not a narcissist (they kind of know that they are wacko, but will never, ever admit it). 'Love' shouldn't require a lot of work; a bit maybe; but if one senses that it is all 'one way', or not going anywhere, quit. The relationship is very unlikely to get better; it almost certainly will get worse. Doomed. Save yourself years of wasted life. If you don't, expect to become bitter and twisted yourself. At BB, we feel that health is THE foundation to all else, so we do cover health in this regard, although primarily a travel and culture site. Thousand page books are not our thing; we get straight to the point. If you want to delve deeper, consider this - why is a relationship so important to you ? Going beyond 'animal instincts' is beyond many - they never really mature. If the immature instinct is made the 'gold standard', what can one expect ? If one cannot go beyond the animal brain, one is f****d [animal brain lingo]. The thing is, bad relationships that progress to having kids, can produce sad / bad kids (that may have to endure two decades of emotional abuse). And likely to repeat the cycle, and possibly go into politics, etc. - hence, it is very important to not be a part of this. Maybe, romantic 'love' is simply the grand distraction meme that helps keep the elite in power.

JianZi 毽子 !
A popular pastime in parks all over China. JianZi combines athleticism, balance, coordination and inner calm. It has been played in China since the Han Dynasty (200 BC). The 'shuttlecock' is composed of a number of coin-like metal weights and colored feathers. The first film is from the People's Park in GuangZhou; the second is at the Long Corridor of the Temple of Heaven in BeiJing. The third film shows some masters at play.
