China and South-East Asia can rise together

Modern China, center of business and commerce, began here, in GuangDong province, south east China, just forty years ago, following the vision and effort of Deng XiaoPing (1904 - 1997). Deng XiaoPing opened China to the world, as it had been during the long period of a prior golden age with the Silk Road to the Middle East and Europe (by land) and other parts of south east Asia and as far as Africa via the Silk Road of the Sea. His policies are credited with helping China to develop in the most startling transformation that the world has ever seen, raising the standard of living of hundreds of millions. This followed his Southern Tour of 1992 when the likelihood of adoption of his vision still looked slim. Deng was also a key player in the return of Hong Kong to China in 1997. Too far. some might say, but without this move, the position to debate that would not now exist. Let's take a stroll along a street in the downtown on a spring evening ...

FèngHuáng (Phoenix) ancient town, lies 'close' (about 140 kilometers) to the ZhangJiaJie Nature Reserve. The town retains much of its ancient architecture and culture. Legend tells that two of the mythical phoenix birds flew over the town and were so in awe at its beauty that they remained hovering there for a long time, being reluctant to leave and lose the view. FengHuang is home to several minority ethnic groups, mainly the Miao (苗) and TuJia (土家). Batik and tie-dye are very popular here and the Miao and TuJia have their own ways to produce the cloth with unique folk patterns. Traditional crafts also include embroidery (TuJia), silverware (Miao), 'paper cuts' and ginger candy. DiaoJiaoLou (吊脚楼) is the traditional dwelling of the TuJia, Miao and some other minorities. DiaoJiaoLou can be translated literally into English as "feet-hanging building" which means a building built with its base hanging in the air instead of locating on the ground. The houses lining the river display a strong Miao ethnic style with the front part facing the old official road and the rear part hanging over the Tuo River.

Fearing China's rise, and especially its basic premise that all its citizens are family, not merely livestock, the elite rulers of the West have for some time been trying to undermine China through destabilization of its periphery - Tibet, Hong Kong, XinJiang and TaiWan. Simultaneously, a huge amount of propaganda has been broadcast in the West to proffer false tales and coerce the public to demonize China. From Obama's 'pivot to Asia', and before, the West has been cranking up a military encirclement of China, and that includes destabilizing China's neighbors in South East China - Thailand, Myanmar, etc. The aim is to undermine the whole region, ASEAN, and particularly the 'Belt and Road Initiative' (BRI) that China has created to build up the region in common prosperity, plus trade with Europe, the Middle East, Africa and beyond. The 'West', particularly the US, UK and Australia, are doing their utmost to undermine the region. Economically, for sure; but also militarily. Plus, via backing all manner of separatists and front groups both in China and all of S.E. Asia.
